Working with HTML files …. ahhh Good tech times!

August 24th, 2008

Ahhh Good Fun!   Tonight I had to the honor of going back in time and updating a very old website.  The company that I was updating the site for didn’t want a very big change made.  The site was made by me a long time ago using only html.

For those that don’t know, html is becoming obsolete within web design anymore.  Dynamic pages along with css and xml is the way most sites have gone.

Its always fun though whenever the company says we need a menu change and their site was made using html.  The site has no database and no included files.  The question is how does the menu no the site get changed then.  Yep! You guessed it.  I have to open all 30+ documents and change every where that the menu shows up within each document.

Like I said… It brought back some memories……

Beach trip 08 - Duck, NC.

August 4th, 2008

Back to the beach again this year. We ate well, swam alot and enjoyed a lot of time with family! I got to try out 4 restaurants: Hurricane Moes, The Rundown, The Duck Deli and also the Grand Corral Buffet.

Hurricane Moes:
Hurricane Moes which is around Nags Head, NC is a nice little bar that has excellent food. I had some really good Mahi Mahi there along with their good Dolphin Fingers. If you ever get around Nags Head this is one of my favorite picks.

The Rundown:
This is a fair restaurant that somewhat overlooks the nags head area ocean from the upstairs. You can sit downstairs or upstairs. I thought the upstairs outside deck was pretty cool. The food at the rundown was different but fair. If I were to go back I would try one of the other numerous restaurants. Ive had better food and Im sure somewhere else in this area will to. Not saying that it wasnt good, I am just saying that other places in my opinion could top The Rundown fairly easy.

The Duck Deli:
This BBQ restaurant located in Duck, NC. was excellent. If you are in the mood for chicken done in a variety of ways this restaurant is for you. The inside atmosphere is a little to be desired but for a lunch type diner, the food superseded my expectations by far. Bone chicken done the way that bone chicken should be done. Two of us got a full smoked chicken with chili cheese fries and hush puppies. We walked out of there unable to eat it all. It was marvelous! They also offer take out which if you don’t care for the lunchtime diner sit down, get it to go and ask for some BBQ sauce. This restaurant is a must recommend.

The Golden Corral Buffet - VA Beach:
The Golden Corral Buffet was very good. Its hard to be bad when you have that much food on a buffet. Someone always should be able to find something that they like. Another person with my group did say that some of their cleanliness standards didnt see to be in place but I go with the modo, “As long as I dont get to sick afterwards and the food is good…. Im good with that “. This is a franchise restaurant and I was at the one in Chesapeake, VA. I would recommend trying this anywhere in the nation.

Here are a few pics from the vacation:

Life!

July 17th, 2008

Life has its ups and its downs.. Sometimes your busy… Sometimes you have nothing to do. What is your purpose in life.
Not many people really know exactly what their purpose in life is. I am still unsure exactly what God has in store for me. What is the big picture. What is the exact reason that he has placed me here.

I believe that it might be for a couple reasons and that is why putting your finger on exactly one thing might be very difficult.

So far in life I have enjoyed every last bit of it. Even the downer times. I remember sitting in Sunday School one day and sitting on the floor while putting my head on an old wood chair that was in the class room. I was so sick and probably running a really high temperature that I would put my face on anything to try to keep it cool. It wasn’t exactly lifes greatest moments but im glad I got to feel the miserableness of it all.

For all those who do not take that minute to sit back and enjoy just the sensation of breathing air. Take it up sometime. Inhale, and exhale. Not because I said so but to enjoy the feeling of being alive.

Realize that the lord has you here for a reason and enjoy life whether your going through the good times or the bad.
Overall, remember to love and have faith…. He will come.

Country Air

July 11th, 2008

We drove to New Jersey last weekend and as we got closer to New Jersey’s Newark (Home of the Hellboy Movie) we could smell the difference in air.  Not that I didn’t care for it but you could smell the emissions in the air.   Driving back home this past weekend once again reminded me why I am glad I live in the Country.  Fresh air ahhhh!  After smelling the air and coming back home I feel enthused because of  the 08 election.  Currently I believe I am going to vote McCain.   He is more reserved and wont pull out of Iraq, erasing everything that we have done there but I dont think that I will mind if Obama takes over the nation.  I am glad that a man is going to be running the nation after th election.  Obama does support a variety energy efficient ways but right now I think I am going to have to go with the guy that helps me a “Small Business Owner” out with taxes.  Obviously Obama is going to raise taxes but is he going to raise them enough to crumple my Small Business.

Getting your gun off….!

July 5th, 2008

There’s something that I’ve noticed about everyone…..  Something, usually one thing drives their self being.

I have a variety of friends.. all of which are into a big list of different things but each friend usually has one big thing that drives them.    I  know my friends are not to much different then everyone else in america.  This weekend it hit me how much people are all into there individual one thing.  I was on the New Jersey Transit and looked at everyone around.  At each stop a large amount of people would exit and enter the train.  All the people would be coming and going.  Some stops would have a lot of people from the same ethnic group  moving on or off together.    It was amazing to see the different types and the large amount of people coming and going.  Most likely they were all getting on or off because of the main thing in there life.  The one thing in life that gets their gun off.

What could be so important for these people.  Each person usually only has one big thing in their life.  A few people have two but usually after the first one the second thing doesnt rate as high on their gun richter scale.

Family and Friends are usually easy to read of what might be their #1 thing.  People around me are into a variety of things for example they are into: Their immediate family, sisters, brothers, sports, drama, a car, God, a youth group, hunting, fishing, boys, girls, politics, husbands, wives, their house, competition, exotic trade, dancing, bike riding, excercising, poker, their local city, security, health care, work, and the list goes on………

For me, I have attention disorder:  This quarter of the year it is my business,  #2 being God  #3 food #4 excercise #5 sports #6 My Girl Friend and Family.

You can look at my numbers and think badly of me because yeah I put God as #2 and G/f and Family as #6 but I could lie to you if I wanted to.    Also God could take over and being #1 at any time.  The Girl Friend I set time aside and spend time with her becaue I love her and care about her but overall  when people start talking to me about business… My heart starts beating and I could blabber on about a hundred different things dealing with my business.   Notice I said my business and not the money that comes in from it and may I say it isnt much.   God is probably number in overall in my life.   But when someone asks me about things with the church it doesnt get me ignited.    If it was the right question I would be all ears and ready but sometimes Im just like yeah blah.

My Girl Friend and Family would be #2 in my life but I see them every day so whenever people ask me about them or I talk to them im like blah…..

But when you ask about the business… Im like yep, did advertising there and did work here and talked to this person and they are going to help me out here.  Im excited at every step of the business and every move that I can make to improve my business.   It just interests me and now its starting to be a primary focus in my life. Not over all … but its on my mind and exciting to me.

With all the millions and millions of people on the earth and people getting on and off the New Jersey Transit Trains… What could each person be into that drives their wheel.   It makes you interested into what all drives people.  Especially for me coming out to the New Jersey area and seeing all the different types of people with everything around here.   This is an amazing thing in life.  You can see it from each individual business down a road here in New Jersey and New York City.  People each invested themselves into their business or into standing on the side of the road selling flowers, or asking for donations.   Its an interesting thing in life.

So what gets your gun off….. Where does everything rank in your life?    Step back, look at yourself and get an overview!  It may help you point yourself for your future.

Gotta love the police of Claysburg PA!

June 26th, 2008

I know some of the police and they are fairly nice guys! I have learned something though… We need more forms of entertainment in Claysburg, PA. Like a firing range. Rumor has it that they fired 3 clips and hit a bear three times out of all those bullets.

I really didnt have much to post about this exact incident other than it was so funny that I had to post it… Gotta love those Native Claysburgers.

Importance

June 23rd, 2008

As my sleeping has been changed this week, I have awaken today with some spare alone time at 2am…….. I wear out at 9pm and so I go to sleep hoping each time to wake up when morning comes only to wake up and see the clock strike 2am.   My normal actions usually consist of watching TV or turning on the laptop and doing something minor like checking my Myspace or Facebook or even hitting the send and receive button on my email.

Today I woke up thinking about my faith and how i have been setting aside my time lately for other things like work or getting in shape, You know!  The things that are important in life but not as important as my faith.  I woke up asking for God’s guidance.  His guidance to help me become more dependant on my faith.   To turn to him at every step/turn I take in life.  Even earlier today I found myself being my usual lazy self and not gathering enough engery and desire and will power to get off the couch that I fell asleep on after waking up last night at 2am and going to bed at 4am.  I sat on the couch in front of the boob tube and couldnt find my way away from it to go to church.  I did however enjoy my day of rest today.  I did somewhat honor the Sabbath day but I have in no way been walking the faith walk that anyone should be walking.  People always talk about their faith walk being down a small narrow road inwhich Jesus leads you on.  My current path is like Moses walking through the desert.  I keeping winding across the desert but my walk is less miserable.  The only thing keeping me winding toward the right direction is the fact that I notice myself not asking for his guidance as much as I am familiar to asking for.  Interesting way to wake up today though.   The feeling just hit me and so I did what any smart person would do,  I asked for his guidance! Duh!

Then after being up for 10 minutes it kept swirling around my head to go back to sleep, I have to work in the morning and so it would be nice to be rested up for the day. Then one of those great feelings hit me again..  You know you’ve felt them.  I really didn’t know what to call them but I have started taking this class at my church on Tuesdays (which work impeeded on last week) and the book they are reading calls them God’s Mysterious Promptings aka Signs.  Ill recall this feeling here in a bit.

I have joined this class because of a need at my church for visitations, and in general being able to feel comfortable sharing my faith.  The preacher “Wayne Brockway” is leading the class.  Wayne has us get a book for the class, it is “Just Walk Across the Room” by Bill Hybels.   I would say that its a great book and such but im only through chapter one.   Let me get through the rest just to confirm that its a great book.  Chapter one is a must read at some point in your life anyways.

Back to that feeling (sorry for jumping around).  I get this feeling at 2:10ish(thats during the a.m. hours) to pick up this book for my class at church and read it.  Now if you are a close friend of mine you know that “Jeff” does not just get the urge to read a book especially at 1am.   I will read a technology book from time to time but I have to be in go mode.  I have to really want to learn whatever that books u about but I really didnt know what this particular book was about.   I really didnt even know the title before starting to read it tonight.  Ahhh God’s mysterious promptings.    I’ve only read one chapter tonight so far and already its like the book is directed right at me.  I pulled the “God’s mysterious promptings phrase right out of the introduction.  The Introduction!  When a book hits you in the introduction, how much do you think that chapter one is going to hit you.

This book pretty much spells out one of the most important things in life in chapter one.   I’ll give you a little excert from the first chapter one Bill Hybels - Just walk across the room

He starts off by talking about Romans 5:8 and then goes into leaving your comfort zone and going into the zone of the unknown meaning that when you leave something your comfortable with and go and talk to people or do something where you are unsure of whats going to happen thus going into the zone of the unknown
If you’ve ever wondered why God would go to such lengths to prove his love, you’re in good company.  To clear up any confusion his first century audience might have had about why he came, Christ said, “I came to seek and to save what was lost.”

Thats it.  People were Jesus’ One Thing.  And they still are  People who are sick.  People who are lonely.  People who are wandering, depressed, and hopeless.  People who have gotten themselves tangled up in suffocating habits and destructive relationships.
Then he goes on to mention the story of John 8 about the girl that was to be stone to death until Jesus said to the pharisees Ye without sin cast the first stone.

He was talking about people usually have one thing in life that is their thing. It could be being popular, money, or power, whatever but Gods only thing was people.

God prompted me to read this book and during the middle of this book I felt like sharing the basis of information that I had learned.  Thus you have a nice blog article about it.    Who knows why or the purpose all I know is that I want to put people first in my life, no matter who.   I really don’t like people but God knows how to prompt and I am glad to let him lead me where I may need to go.

I will say that the feeling of tiredness has come across me so hopefully I will feel prompted to read chapter 2 - 8 before Tuesday.  I think these people read books to much.  Im express my concern on reading three chapters per lesson when we first got the books.  I dont think they understand that three chapters is usually my reading for an entire year.  Why burn up all that reading in one week and then add my next couple years of readying to the next few weeks.

Anyways… from what I have read I suggest that you do get this book.  It’s called “Just Walk Across the Room” by Bill Hybels
